Just a reminder that tomorrow, Wednesday, 11/25/20 is an early release for GPS. WMS students will be released at 12:46 pm.
On Monday, November 30, 2020, Glendive Public Schools will be moving to the restricted model for all grades 1-12, which means students will be attending school onsite Monday through Thursday. Kindergarten will remain in the A/B Hybrid model at this time. Our staff is excited to see all of our students back in the buildings. As this is a change for everyone, we would like to highlight a couple of things to make this a successful transition. *Face coverings - Face Coverings will be required to be worn all day in all areas on campus (Hallways, Classrooms, Bus, School Events, etc.). GPS will be providing 2 more cloth masks per student. *New Bus Schedule (Starting Nov 30th) https://rb.gy/rd1ibp - Please click on the link to be taken to the new GPS Bus Routes for the Restricted model. Please note all changes to your bus route. Also, as a reminder: GPS busing is only for students who have been using the buses in the Hybrid model. If you would like your student to ride the bus, you will need to contact Mr. Phipps at the bus barn (377-4055) to assure that there is a seat available. *Release Times - Please note that JES release time has changed and is the ONLY school with a new release time. JES - 2:30 LES - 3:00 WMS - 2:46 DCHS - 2:46 *Drop-off Times - We ask that parents do not drop their students off before 7:50 at each of the schools. *GPS Restricted Checklist (https://rb.gy/w256qs) - Please click on the link to be taken to the GPS Restricted Checklist that has more information about the move to the Restricted model. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s building administrator. Thank you!

Earlier this week, staff, parents, and the community were notified about the new protocols of Glendive Public Schools in regards to meetings (https://www.glendiveschools.com/o/gps/live_feed). Monday, November 9, 2020 we will be conducting our regularly scheduled board meeting virtually. The following are some of the reasons the board decided to move the meeting to a virtual platform: 1) More people will be able to participate. --With current restrictions, we will no longer have to worry about possibly limiting the number of people who can attend. --We have been contacted by many people asking for our meetings to be live streamed. We are now able to stream our meeting without the use of Facebook as not everyone has a Facebook account. --More people will get the opportunity to address the board through public comment. If you are interested in giving public comment at our next meeting, please see the directions below. 2) Consistency --The board meeting will now be in line with what the school district is doing in terms of meetings 3)Safety --Moving the meeting to a virtual meeting will help mitigate the spread of the virus and reduce the risk of staff, parents and community members being named as a close contacts. CONGRATULATIONS to Ms. Shanon Hellman- 7 & 8th grade History teacher for being selected as the October staff member of the month! Ms. Hellman is absolutely a WMS AWESOMIZER! Ms. Hellman.....YOU ROCK!!! #WMSDEMONS #WMSAWESOMIZER #GPSSTAFFMEMBEROFTHEMONTH What was your favorite thing to do during the COVID shutdown? My favorite COVID activity has been spending time with my children and Netflix. What is your favorite outside activity? I enjoy barbeques and playing corn hole. Why did you decide to work at WMS? When I went to school to become a teacher, I never in a million years would have thought that I would’ve enjoyed teaching Middle School. But, I couldn’t imagine teaching any other age. Middle school students are the best! They are trying to figure out how they fit into this crazy world and they are full of suggestions on how to make things better. If you could be any cartoon character who would you choose and why? If I could be any cartoon character, it would probably be Smurfette because I have always loved the Smurfs. It always seemed like Smurfette had so much fun and if she found herself in trouble, she could always count on Papa Smurf and the rest of the Smurfs to help her out. What is your favorite quote? “Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.” – Harriet Tubman

GPS is dedicated to promoting behaviors that reduce COVID-19’s spread in order to maintain healthy operations of our schools. Social distancing requirements and protecting our staff against becoming ill as well as being named as a close contact are making traditional in-person meetings challenging to nearly impossible. In order to maintain in-person schooling at GPS, we must be able to staff all positions. Not having enough subs has made it very difficult to fill positions when staff gets sick or are named as close contacts. We are committed to doing everything we can to ensure that we are able to continue to have in-person learning and not be forced online. In order to maintain educational continuity and a safe school environment, GPS will adhere to the following protocols when holding meetings: 1). Meetings in the schools will be held virtually whenever possible. If a meeting needs to take place in person, the room needs to be big enough so there is at least 6-feet between each person. In addition, the meeting must last less than one hour. If the meeting is going to last more than one hour, it must be moved online. 2). The following will pertain to school-related weekday meetings held off school grounds: First, staff members should determine if they can join the meeting virtually. If they must attend in person, there must be at least 6-feet between participants. If the meeting organizer is unable to accommodate either an online option or maintain adequate social distancing, the district employee is not allowed to attend the meeting. Our goal is to reduce the risk of GPS staff becoming quarantined as a result of attending a meeting with a potentially infected attendee. Following these procedures will help GPS protect staff and keep them healthy so we can continue to have students on-site. As you can see, we are implementing procedures to help mitigate the spread of the virus and reduce the risk of staff being named as a close contact. If we are unable to staff our buildings, we will be forced to go online. These procedures will be followed if we are in the Hybrid or Restricted model. This is especially important given the District’s small pool of available substitutes. We appreciate the community’s patience, understanding, and GRACE during these challenging times. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact any of our administrators or you can reach out to us at email@example.com.
I just wanted to send a follow up message out to everyone letting them know that we were able to get one of our boilers up and running yesterday and we hope to have the other fixed by the end of the week. We are thankful that the weather is nice this week so we can be in school!

UPDATE from Mr. Buckley (AD): The WMS GBB games scheduled in Watford City on (11/7) Saturday have been adjusted to only 2 games. There will be a 8th A and a 7th A only due to the number of girls out in Watford City. The 7th grade will play first at 10 am MST followed by the 8th grade at 11:15 am MST. The games will be played at the middle school (100 3rd St NE). Each player will be allowed 2 guest passes which will be distributed by our coaches as soon as we get the passes from Watford.
Today, 11/2/20, the WMS boilers will be offline. Our head custodian came in last night to fire the boilers as is their normal routine. The boilers kept tripping on flame failure. She called Rhett Coon- GPS facilities director who came down and BOTH working boilers are doing the same thing making them inoperable. A local plumber was called in to access and he came to the same conclusion. MDU will be onsite today to determine the issue. The rooms are anticipated to be in the low 60s by early afternoon but will be below 60 to start the day. Please dress your child according to the anticipated temperature. Hopefully we will have them up and running at some point soon.

To clarify, there has been no date set to move to the Restricted Model. On October 12, 2020, the board tasked the administration to prepare to move to the Restricted Model. A checklist of the items needed for the District to move was created. GPS Restricted Checklist: https://rb.gy/w256qs On November 9th, the administration will be presenting this checklist to the GUSB. Currently, one of the major obstacles for moving to the Restricted Model is staffing. We are in dire need of substitutes. In order for GPS to move to the Restricted Model, the District must have sufficient substitutes to cover the open paraprofessional and custodial openings as well as subs for staff that have to be absent for a variety of reasons. Please, consider applying and encouraging others in our community to apply. Process for Applying for Sub: https://rb.gy/aytl1l The GPS Administration and Glendive Unified School Board (GUSB)

Thank you to those of you who have already reached out to your respective principals if you would like to change your child's current learning model (online to in-person or in-person to online). If you are planning to make a change, please contact your student’s principal as soon as possible. As a reminder, the change will take place at quarter for K-8 and at semester for 9-12. For Clarification: --If your child is currently online only, and you would like to switch to in person learning, we need notification (K-8). --If your child is currently in-person, and you want to switch to online only, we need notification (K-8). --If your student is currently in-person and you want to stay in-person, no action is necessary. --If your student is currently online only and you want to stay online, no action is necessary. Please note: A date to return to the restricted model has not yet been determined. We are continuing to work on completing the items on the checklist that was shared last week. We will announce a date as soon as it is determined so that everyone has time to prepare and plan for the change. Thank you!

The GUSB has tasked the GPS administrators to actively pursue moving to the Restricted Model. As a reminder, the Restricted model is all students onsite M-Th. Since social distancing will not be able to be maintained, face coverings will be mandatory and need to be worn all day. GPS admin have been working diligently for weeks to make the necessary changes and arrangements to make the switch from the Hybrid model to the Restricted model. The following link is a checklist which summarizes the items that will help GPS make this shift successful. You will notice that some of these items are still in progress. We understand that there are a lot of people that want this shift to happen; please look at each section to see what you can do to help. One example is to help GPS by becoming a substitute. Another example would be letting your respective principal know if your student will be changing from online to in-person or vice versa as soon as possible as explained in the previously released message (K-8 can make a switch at quarter, 9-12 can make the switch at semester) to allow us to finalize certain plans. Please note that more information will come out about this in the coming weeks. GPS Restricted Checklist https://rb.gy/w256qs
Parent/Guardians, At the last school board meeting, the board directed the GPS administration to move to the restricted model where students will attend 4 days a week M-Th onsite wearing masks all day (once everything is able to be put into place). In preparation for this move, we felt it appropriate to allow elementary-age students (K-8th) to shift back onsite or move online at the start of the 2nd quarter if it was agreed that it is in the student's best interest. This request is only for students K-8. High School students would be allowed to make the switch to or from online at the end of the semester. We are asking that you notify the building principal of the school your child attends if you would like us to consider moving your student from online learning back onsite or vice versa. We are asking for this contact to be made by Wednesday, October 28th so we have accurate numbers to plan for. The first day of the 2nd quarter is November 2nd. Please contact the individual school principals if you have any further questions. Please note that a date to move back to the Restricted model has not been finalized, but more information about that will be coming out soon. We made a change to the calendar as we noticed that Parent-Teacher Conferences fell on election day. Parent-Teacher conferences will now be on November 5th. We will also be moving the early out from the 3rd to the 5th along with the conferences. We are sorry for the inconvenience. This year we will be having the conferences virtually and more information will be coming out later on that once we get closer. To view the updated calendar, please click on the following link (https://5il.co/mf47) or go to our website at www.glendiveschools.org.
It was just brought to our attention that there are many people who took the last email to say that we were going online. Glendive Public Schools is not going online. The last email was referencing the emails and messages from the district that notified everyone that we were going to go online because of the two boiler situations at LES and WMS. The purpose of this last email was to have everyone make sure they are getting the messages that we are sending out by updating their information. We are sorry for any confusion that this caused.
Recently, we had to notify everyone that school was going online for WMS and LES. When we send messages out to the community, we send the message out in a variety of ways (Website, App, Facebook, Email, Text, Voice, etc.). This school year we have been shifting away from Facebook as it is not a great way to get all parents information. Currently, the Glendive Public Schools App is the best way to receive information about what is happening in each school. In the last month, we have decided that we are going to utilize Infinite Campus (our School Information System) to deliver messages by email, text, and voice. In order for this to be effective, we need everyone to make sure they have an account set up and that their information is correct in the system. If you are seeing this message on Facebook, our website, or app, but did not get an email, you will need to check with your student’s school to make sure you are set up. Below you will find the Parent Portal Link. Please click on it and login. If you do not have a login, please call your child's school and they can help you set one up. Moving forward, this is how we are going to send most of our information out to parents. This will also be the way for all emergencies that we will get the information out. You need to have a phone number and email address as a minimum. Please note that in order to have a text sent to you, you have to have a cell phone entered and opt in to get that (information on how to do that below). Please log into your Parent Portal: https://mtdecloud3.infinitecampus.org/campus/portal/glendive.jsp Navigate to Settings (in the top right corner) and Select Contact Preferences. Once there, scroll to the bottom of the page to update your Contact Preferences to receive Text Messages from the District. Thank you for your help with ensuring that we are able to reach you with our important information.
REMINDER: The 1st WMS Choir Concert of the year is Thursday, 10/22 at 7 pm at the DCHS Auditorium. Each student participant was given 2 tickets for spectators to attend (B group students will receive their tickets tomorrow). We are looking forward to a GREAT concert tomorrow night! GO DEMONS!!!
UPDATE: 8th grade girls basketball practice will be at 4:15 pm on 10/22 in the WMS cafeteria gym. There will not be 6th grade girls basketball practice on Thursday.
UPDATE: Girls Basketball practice times @ WMS 1st Practice for 6th, 7th & 8th grade will be on Thursday, October 22 6th- 4 pm in cafeteria 7th- 4 pm in MS gym 8th- 5:30 pm in MS gym Physicals are required before students are allowed to participate. GO DEMONS!!!
Good news at WMS! The boiler parts came in today and they were able to make the appropriate fixes on the boiler and get it running this evening. We will have all "A Group" students in attendance on Wednesday, October 21st. Please make sure your child is dressed for the cold conditions outside as we will be outside before school and during lunch recess. On another note, the end of the quarter is next week. If your child has missing assignments, we have additional academic support until 4 pm each day M-Th (only for the kids who were onsite that day) and on Friday's from 8-2 pm for students who need some extra help getting caught up. Students will be kept in A & B group cohorts on Friday's. Let's finish the quarter strong!
ALL WMS classes will be online again tomorrow. Please have your students check in with their teachers tomorrow morning. Update on the boiler: We had our annual boiler inspection this summer. There were no immediate repairs recommended from the inspectors. Boilers were reassembled and ready to be fired up when temperatures forecasted to drop below 40 degrees for extended periods. Once we fired the boilers, it was determined that the primary gas valves (installed almost 30 years ago) had a leak in them. This was an unforeseen failure as they had just passed inspection. Due to the nature of the gas valves failing, they were leaking natural gas into the boiler room. For the safety of everyone, it was determined that school needed to be moved online until the valves could be replaced. Currently, the closest valves of this type are in Chicago. The valves have been ordered and overnighted. Once here, the repairs will be able to be done so that we will have heat again at WMS. If everything goes well, we should be able to have everyone back in the building on Wednesday. We will update everyone tomorrow once we know more. FYI: LES is a different issue and we will know more later this afternoon about that.
Washington MS staff member of the month for September: CONGRATULATIONS to Mrs. Houck (Reading teacher) for being selected for the month! Here is a little information about Mrs. Houck. Thank you for all you do to make WMS a great place for our students! GO DEMONS! #WMSDEMONS #WMSSTAFFMEMBEROFTHEMONTH #GPSPRIDE What was your favorite thing to do during quarantine? Hiking with my kids in Makoshika State Park What is your favorite outside activity? Hiking, golfing, or playing softball Why did you decide to work at WMS? I love the middle school age; they’re not quite finished yet, but you get wonderful glimpses of who they will become. If you could be any cartoon character who would you choose and why? I would probably choose Scooby Doo; he has a band of tight-knit buddies that always look out for him & feed him Scooby Snacks all day long. He also loves a good mystery, as do I. What is your favorite quote? “It is our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.” —J. K. Rowling “Free will, though it makes evil possible, is also the only thing that makes possible any love or goodness or joy worth having.” C. S. Lewis
1st day of girls basketball practice has been postponed until we have working heat at WMS. We are hoping it will be Tuesday after school but will not know until repairs take place. We will post practices times as soon as we have things figured out. 1st day of wrestling will be on Tuesday, 10/20 @ 4 pm at DCHS gym. For either sport, a sports physical is required. Please call the office (377-2356) if you have any questions.
Tomorrow, 10/19 with school for WMS being online, lunch will be available for pickup for WMS "A group" students between 11-12:30 pm @ DCHS cafeteria entrance doors. In order to receive the meals, parent/students must call WMS (377-2356 hit 1 for the office) by 9 am for us to have an accurate count of meals needed. Please leave a message if no one answers. Thank you for your patience as we work through this!
WMS classes will be online tomorrow: We have been unable to fire the boiler at WMS because of a found gas leak. With this cold spell that we have, it is too cold to have students in the building all day. Currently the school is between 40-50 degrees and we do not have a way to warm up the building. For the health and safety of our students and staff, all WMS classes tomorrow will be online. Please have your students check in with their teachers tomorrow. Please be on the look out for more information being sent out tomorrow once we know more about the boiler situation.
On October 18, 2020, Glendive Public Schools was notified that a staff member at Washington Middle School and a staff member at Jefferson Elementary School tested positive for COVID-19. Because of how we have structured the classes/schedules to mitigate possible exposure, only a small amount of the staff and students came in contact with the staff member. Contact tracing is ongoing and those individuals who are identified as close contacts will be notified. Glendive Public Schools will continue to take safety precautions to make sure all students and staff are as safe as possible. If any staff or students are at risk of exposure, the Dawson County Health Department will be in contact with that person to determine a safe and appropriate course of action. It is still recommended that any person who feels sick or ill, seek out their medical provider for specific instructions. Glendive Public Schools is following the Dawson County Health Department and CDC guidelines to clean and disinfect our schools every day. School administrators will continue to monitor the situation and will provide further information if and when it becomes available.

On September 23, 2020, Glendive Public Schools was notified that a Student at Washington Middle School tested positive for COVID-19. According to the Dawson County Health Department, some of the Washington staff and students were in contact with the student during the period of possible exposure. However, because of how we have structured the classes/schedules to mitigate possible exposure, only a small amount of the students and staff came in contact with the student.
Update from Mr. Buckley (AD): The WMS VB match scheduled for Monday, October 5th vs Baker has been changed to Thursday, October 8th. The matches will start at 4 pm and they will be played at DCHS.
The Glendive Unified School Board (GUSB) is pleased to announce Glendive Public Schools has been approved for the nationwide USDA Extended Summer Food Service Program Waiver to serve breakfast and lunches at no cost to all students enrolled in the Glendive Public Schools grades K-12, regardless of Free/Reduced or Paid status. The waiver is valid through December 31, 2020. The cost of student meals will return to normal on January 1, 2021.
Updated WMS Football start times for 9/19 VS Watford City. 7th grade will start at 10 am & 8th will start at 11:30 am. GO DEMONS!!!
Great news from Miles City. Their school board voted last night to approve visiting teams to be allowed 2 fans per rostered player to attend their events. They will send our school the tickets electronically and parents will need to pick them up and pay at our school. If parent/guardians drive to MC and do not have a ticket, they will not be allowed to enter. For today's volleyball games against Miles City parent/guardians will need to come to the school before 2 pm and pick up/purchase their household (2) tickets. Cost of the tickets for the Miles City games are $3. Good luck to our lady Demons!!!

Let's try this again: UPDATE from Mr. Buckley (AD): Miles City PS has notified us that they are NOT allowing any out of town spectators into their athletic events at this time. This would apply to our middle school football game in Miles City tomorrow night 9/10/20. On another note. We received word from Watford City that they will allow spectators this weekend for our volleyball games. The 7th grade will play at Badlands Elementary and 8th grade will play at middle school. There will be no concessions and spectators will need to bring a mask and socially distance. We just wanted to get the word out to parents so you can plan accordingly. Thanks.
Message from GPS: Please check your email or Infinite Campus account for an important message from Glendive Public Schools regarding ordering Breakfast/Lunch for your student's offsite days. Please contact your student's school to update your information or to find out more information about this message.
The Glendive Public Schools nurses wish to advise parents that COVID-19 testing will NOT be a part of your student's routine screenings. As always, please call with any questions or concerns. We are looking forward to a safe and healthy school year!
I apologize for the technical difficulties. In order to meet the needs of our Washington students/families, we are trying an order form for parents to order offsite meals instead of having our students order. Please fill out the following form only if you would like to order meals for your WMS child when they are offsite. If you would like to order for more than one child at WMS, please fill this form out for each child. The offsite meals that are ordered will be sent home with students on their onsite days for the following day when they are not physically at school. Your regular meal cost will apply to the meals that are ordered. This order form is a trial run for the week and will be tweaked as needed. Thank you for being flexible as we figure out the best way to serve our students! https://forms.gle/NagQVjMkEoBVbfhV7
Beginning Monday, August 31, Glendive Public Schools will offer breakfast and lunch meals for children to take home for their offsite days. A meal count will be taken in each homeroom/1st period, first thing each morning. On Monday and Tuesday, children may sign up for an onsite lunch for that current day and for a breakfast and/or lunch meal to take home for the following day. On Wednesdays, “A day” students may request meals for Thursday and Friday breakfasts and/or lunches during meal count. Thursdays “B day” students may request meals for Friday and Monday breakfasts and/or lunches during meal count. A staff member will be in a designated area to distribute the requested meals as students leave school each afternoon. Please do not hesitate to contact Food Service Director, Anne Sadorf at 377-2555 if you need assistance or have any questions.
We are so excited to have students in our buildings again. Below is some information that might help you out for this first week. Face coverings: Please remember that students/staff will be required to wear face coverings on school property at all times except for the following circumstances: where social distancing can be maintained, at recess if the groups/cohorts are less than 50 students, consuming food and drink, and while engaging in physical activity. This applies even if we drop below 4 active cases in Dawson County. Our plans were in place before Glendive had enough cases for the Governor's order to go into effect based on guidance from our Health Department and the CDC recommendations. Online: If you have opted out of Face-to-Face instruction you should be getting information from each school on when your student will start. If you still haven't seen anything, please call the school that your child goes to for more information. Offsite: With this being the first week of school, we will not be doing the offsite days. We want to make sure that we have everything set up. Next week, we will be starting the offsite days with all students. Your student's teachers will be sending work home or in their online platform for the students to complete. Recess: Each school is set up a little differently with how recess will work this year. Each school is trying to set up times for students to be outside without their masks. The general rule is that students can be outside without their masks if they are grouped with fewer than 50 students and they are outside for less than 15 minutes. There will be times where this is not possible (i.e. mornings when all students come to school on the playground). Please know we will continue to try and create opportunities for students to be able to take off their face coverings. Please help us by encouraging your students to follow these procedures so that we can continue to try and offer these opportunities and keep our schools healthy. Food Service: This week we will be offering Breakfast and Lunch for onsite students only. Next week, we will start offering the opportunity for students to also request Breakfast and Lunch on their offsite days. Please watch out for more information coming out this week about how the offsite process will work along with the process for students that are online.
MESSAGE FOR OUR STUDENTS: We are so excited for the first day of school tomorrow for our A group (students with last names A-K) students! When you arrive for your first day we will be doing something different than previous years. You will see that the playground is sectioned off into 3 parts. You are required to stay in the area for your grade level once you arrive on campus unless you are going to eat breakfast and have to walk through the 6th grade area. Also, don't forget that face coverings are required at different points during the day. Being outside on the playground before school is one of those times. Please make sure you have one on and keep it on until the bell at 7:50 am. At that time the 6th grade will go towards the 6th grade entrance (cafeteria line up area), 7th grade will exit the playground and go towards the front of the school where they will stand outside of the middle entrance door, the 8th graders will wait until all 7th graders are off the playground before heading towards the entrance we usually entered through past years on the south side of the building. Teachers at each entrance will call out the students that are coming with them to their room where schedules will be given out and we will go over a number of things before we go through our typical 7 period schedule. For the B group students, the same thing will happen on Thursday. Looking forward to seeing you all soon! GO DEMONS!!!
The following is guidance and protocols developed by the Dawson County Health Department to help mitigate the risk of COVID-19 spread at Glendive Public Schools. Please check out the following link. We will also be sending out a Frequently Asked Questions sheet developed by the Health Department in the next couple of days. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1gBmrDjKhix4AThfhBR41dIhbb0uYmphHKze8Hqc4YX4/edit?usp=sharing
RE: GPS will NOT be charging the Tech Fee for 20-21 school year Thank you for your patience as we travel to new waters for Glendive Public Schools. Recently it was announced that parents were going to need to pay a $30 rental fee for the Chromebooks and Ipads that the students will be receiving this year. After last spring, we heard from many parents and staff members that the online learning was difficult for many reasons. Some of those reasons had to do with not having the proper devices, not being able to keep their student on task, not being able to control what their student was doing, etc. We heard loud and clear and were able to purchase Chromebooks for all students grades 3-12 and IPads for students grades PK-2. Not only were we able to get a device for every student, but we also wanted to make sure that they meet all student privacy requirements and applicable technology laws. In addition, we wanted to make sure that we were able to control all aspects of the device at school or at home for their offsite days. We have received many emails and have talked to many parents over the last week about the rental fee. We will NOT be charging this fee this year as we agree that it was announced too late. If you have already paid the fee, the school will be contacting you to give your money back. We understand that grants were used to purchase this equipment. The school district will need to find a way to help make this sustainable moving forward. There will still be a device checkout sheet that will need to be signed so parents are aware of the process for checking out the device. If you have any questions about this, please contact your student’s building administrator. We are really looking forward to having students start back in the schools tomorrow. Again, thank you for your patience and grace throughout this difficult time.
Just a reminder for all sixth grade parents and students that tomorrow the A group students will be at Washington middle school from 2 to 330 for the WEB student orientation. Students do not need to bring anything with them they will bring their school supplies the first day they attend with the rest of the students. The B group students will attend on Tuesday from 2 to 330 as well. Parents are not attending this event as it is only for students. We are so excited to see you and have you join our WMS family! GO DEMONS!! #WMSDEMONS
WMS PRACTICE TIME UPDATE: After discussions with the GEA (teachers union), Mr. Buckley (AD) and Mr. Schreibeis (GPS Superintendent), the decision has been made that all sports practice will start at 4:00 pm district wide. With that said, practice times for Monday, 8/24 will be moved from 3:30 to 4:00 (football, 7th grade volleyball & cross country). 8th grade volleyball practice will take place at 5:30 pm. 6th grade volleyball will have their first practice on 8/26 @ 4 pm in the cafeteria gym. Just another reminder that athletes are required to have a sports physical prior to participating and they must be turned into the middle school office. Face coverings are also required of all athletes during different parts of practice, so please make sure to bring them. Athletes also need to bring their own water bottle as drinking fountains are not allowed to be used at this time. We apologize for the late notice. We are trying to work through many different aspects of reopening including our extra curricular offerings. Please call the school if you have any questions. 377-2356 GO DEMONS!!! #WMSDEMONS

Kindergarten registration is now open for the 2020-2021 school year. In order to be eligible for kindergarten, your child must be 5 by September 10, 2020. If your child fits this criteria, please click on the following link to register electronically. This is our first time registering online, but we are giving it a go! https://mtdecloud3.infinitecampus.org/campus/OLRLoginKiosk/glendive
Kindergarten Registration Information: Please watch out for information about how to register your Kindergarten Student by Tuesday, August 11th. We are working on a way to register your student online.
GPS is working on getting the A and B student groups finalized for each school. If your child’s last name starts with an A-K they will be in the A Group that will attend onsite Monday and Wednesday of each week. If your child’s last name starts with an L-Z they will be in the B Group that attends onsite Tuesday and Thursday. We know issues may arise with this split because of things like families with different last names, childcare, work schedules, etc. If this is the case for your child/family, please take the following survey with as much detail as possible. We will do our absolute best to accommodate everyone’s request but will also have to make sure the groups are evenly distributed to allow for social distancing and an optimal learning environment. Priority will be given to make sure that children in the same household will stay on the same schedule. Class Lists will not be released until this information has been collected, reviewed, and staff able to make adjustments. This survey is due at the end of the day on August 10th. PLEASE DO NOT MOVE FORWARD TAKING THIS SURVEY IF YOUR ASSIGNED SCHEDULE WORKS FOR YOUR FAMILY. Survey Link: https://forms.gle/iifUymSqU1BaQXV59
Glendive Public Schools is requesting that any parent or guardian that would like to opt their child out of face-to-face instruction for the start of the 2020-2021 school year, complete the form that can be found at the link below. Parents will be allowed to choose this option through Tuesday, August 11, 2020. Each school needs time to prepare and plan for staffing needs for both online and face-to-face instruction. Completing this opt out agreement is necessary and very important. If you have any questions about this, please contact the building administrator of the school your child will be attending. The Glendive Unified School Board has determined that students who opt out of face-to-face instruction will still be allowed to participate in sports and activities. Please note that this is only for people that are registered with Glendive Public Schools. All rules, procedures, and eligibility requirements must be followed to participate. Opt out Form: https://forms.gle/ZTnrrTsWPoPh7rmS9
We would like to take a minute to briefly explain the difference between online learning and offsite learning to hopefully clear up any confusion between the two. Online Learning This would only take place in the event that the government shuts down the school, if students/teachers have been quarantined, or if a student has chosen to be an on-line student. In these cases, we would have students use their provided device and connect with their teachers remotely. This would include but would not be limited to online independent assignments, Google Meet/Zoom meetings, interactive lessons, and would have teacher directed lessons. Offsite Learning (Restricted or Hybrid A/B model) This would be supplemental work for the hybrid format in order to meet requirements. During the hybrid schedule, this supplemental learning would take place in conjunction with classroom instruction. Students who attend school would be given additional “at home” activities to be completed outside the classroom along with a provided device. Examples of this offsite learning could be: reading, summarizing an article, math practice, spelling practice, little readers, projects, reading a novel, writing practice, review problems, journaling, review questions, etc. This could also include activities to promote social/emotional development such as: family dinner time, reading to a sibling, taking a walk, riding a bike, hiking in the park, swimming, preparing a meal together, etc. Our goal at GPS is to provide an excellent education to our students while keeping the health of our students and staff at the forefront.

Within the next week, GPS will be distributing a survey to gain student, staff, parent, and community input in regards to school resuming in the fall. The well-being of our students, staff, and community, as well as “Excellence in Education”, are of the utmost importance to us. Our intent is to build a plan that could be used in the event of any emergency, potential long term school closure, or the need to comply with any CDC/State/Local requirements. The current options while being compliant with Federal/State mandates are: Restricted (fully on-campus while adhering to CDC guidelines), Completely Online, and Partial (any combination of the previous two). This survey will help us gather stakeholder insight on how you feel we should proceed. GPS will share the survey via school email (students and staff), GPS website & social media pages (parents and community), and for those without online access, paper copies will be available in the district business office. We anticipate this survey taking approximately 5 minutes or less to complete. Your input is not only appreciated but is essential. Thank you ahead of time for your participation!
Parents/Students, just a reminder that we need your textbooks/library books or any items rented (chromebooks/hot spots) returned to the school this week. We also had a number of students who did not come in and pick up their stuff out of the locker/gym locker last week. That stuff will be thrown away or donated to the Attic in June if it hasn't been picked up. Please come in and pick it up if you would still like it. Give the school a call at 377-2356 if you need to schedule a time to do so (the school is open from 8-3 pm). Also, just another reminder about the WMS reverse parade tonight from 5-7 pm at WMS (see info attached). We would love to see our students one last time before summer break and get to say our goodbyes (while maintaining social distancing)!
UPDATE: STUDENT CHECK OUT WILL BE IN THE GYM, PLEASE ENTER THROUGH THE WMS GYM DOORS! We encourage students to come in as parents will not be able to figure out which gym locker is the students to clear out their items. We also wanted to clarify for those of you who checked out chromebooks/hot spots from the school. You do NOT have to return those 5/14-15 when you come in to check out if you are still working on getting your 4th quarter classes completed. You could bring the chromebook in the following week once you were done. Food will continue to be served through our kitchen for lunch pickup as we have been through the last day of school, 5/22/20. Lastly, here is the info we previously shared out regarding student check out. Washington Middle School will have two days for students to come and pick up their belongings. We have placed locker items in bags and placed them in the gym for pick up. We will have a table set up in the gym entry way for any books that your child may need to return (library, teacher’s classroom library, etc.). Social-Emotional Learning is very important to us here at GPS. From Superintendent Schreibeis: The GPS Board of Trustees met Wednesday night and unanimously approved the recommendation to continue online remote learning for the remainder of this school year. This is an intentional decision that puts the safety of our students and staff first and foremost. While our school campuses are closed, we have an obligation to ensure our students continue to receive quality education services through the remainder of the school year, with a focus on the delivery of instruction through distance learning and providing school meals to our students. If you currently have questions or concerns about your students’ progress, please take the time to contact your child’s teacher(s). We recognize the closure of school campuses through the end of the school year brings about many questions. Please be watching for upcoming communication from your child’s principal and teacher(s) on how these last few weeks of the school year will be used to get assignments and work turned in, return textbooks and other school-owned items, and provide additional support that may be needed. More information will be coming out in the upcoming days. I also want to acknowledge the extraordinary efforts of school staff to serve our students and families with continuity of learning, nutrition, and social/emotional supports during these unprecedented circumstances. We truly have an amazing staff, awesome students, and supportive community! #GPSCommunity #WeAreInThisTogether

Parent/Guardians: Mid-Term grades for 4th quarter will be posted in the Infinite Campus portal this Friday, 4/24 by 4 pm. Please log in to see your child's current quarter progress. https://mtdecloud3.infinitecampus.org/campus/portal/glendive.jsp We have also made the decision to start using the ICU database again to communicate with parent/guardians regarding the missing work their child has. We did not want to overwhelm parents/students when we began the online learning process but after feedback from parent/guardians who feel they are not sure what their child has turned in or not completed, we felt should take advantage of the communication tool we have been using throughout the year and use the database once again. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at the school at 377-2356. GO DEMONS!!!

I have an amazing story I wanted to share with our community. A few weeks ago, our PE teachers Ashley Scheetz and Taylor Cashmore asked Mary Jo Gehnert- Dawson County Disaster & Emergency Services Coordinator, to come into our health classes and teach basic life support interventions to our students. This included teaching the Heimlich maneuver. Fast forward to last week and we had a 6th grade student who began to choke on a piece of food in the lunch room. Our students sprung into action! One ran to get a teacher and the other two did the Heimlich maneuver removing the blockage and potentially saving this students life! When I was told that this had happened I was very emotional. First, at the potential loss of a student. Secondly, at the initiative our staff took to teach our kids these potential life saving skills. Third, at the response of these kids to jump into action for a classmate in need. These three students: Caden, Logan & Marty are heroes and deserve to be recognized as such (pictured with Mr. Cashmore). So proud to have the opportunity to work with such great staff and students! GO DEMONS!!! #WMSDEMONS #GPSPRIDE
CONGRATULATIONS to Mr. Cashmore- WMS PE/Health teacher for being selected as the January Staff member of the month! Mr. Cashmore goes above and beyond to build positive relationships with students including running a Pokemon club. Mr. Cashmore.....YOU ROCK!!! #WMSDEMONS #WMSAWESOMIZER #GPSPRIDE What is your favorite food? Seafood What is your favorite thing to do away from school? Spend time with friends and family, or go fly fishing. What is your favorite part of working at WMS? The students and staff. I love each and every member of our WMS family! What advice do you have for students? We all make mistakes, and we all have our failures. Don’t be to hard on yourself when they happen, just learn your lesson and keep your head up! What is your favorite quote? It costs nothing to be kind.

Just a reminder for everyone to continue to do the following things so that you can protect your student and everyone else. We have to all be in this together to #KillTheNorovirus. 1. Wash your student's clothes, jackets, backpacks, etc. 2. Clean your house with bleach or another product that takes care of the Norovirus (remember, disinfectants don't work on the Norovirus). 3. Make sure everyone is washing their hands frequently with soap and water (hand sanitizers do not work on the Norovirus). 4. Keep students home 48 hours after they no longer have symptoms. We know that it is really difficult to do some of these, especially number 4. We appreciate everyone's continued effort with keeping our schools and community safe. Have a great weekend! Go #68! #GPSCommunity

Did You Know: The symptoms of Norovirus: Diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, stomach pain, possible: fever, headache, body aches. You can spread the Norovirus after you get better. The Norovirus is still being produced in your body after you get over your symptoms. Even once you feel better, you should still stay home at least 48 hours after. This is vital if we are ever going to get this virus out of our community. #KillTheNoroVirus #GPSCommunity
Did You Know: Soap and Water can wash Norovirus away, but it takes really hot water to kill it. So please wash your hands with soap often and wash your clothes with Very Hot Water. #KillTheNoroVirus #GPSCommunity
Did You Know: Hand Sanitizers do not kill the Norovirus. The CDC recommends using bleach to kill it, including chlorine bleach or hydrogen peroxide. #KillTheNoroVirus #GPSCommunity
Parents, please use this weekend to wash all your kids clothing, bedding, etc. I know it is a lot of work, but when the Norovirus can last 3 weeks on surfaces or clothing, we need to be diligent with killing this virus. #KillTheNorovirus #GPSCommunity
Hello, this is Stephen Schreibeis, the Superintendent at Glendive Public Schools. As I am sure you have heard, our community is battling the norovirus among other sicknesses. Because of this, GPS is taking steps to keep our students and staff safe. School will be canceled on Monday, January 27th. This unprecedented step has been taken to help give our students and staff time to get better, to thoroughly sanitize our buildings, and to try to stay ahead of it moving forward. We want to make sure that we are able to kill the virus in our schools so that we can continue to keep our school environment as safe as possible. Please understand that the only way that this virus will go away in our community is if every individual takes the steps seriously that the Health Department has sent out to everyone. Please review the message that the Health Department has sent out on their Facebook Page and website if you have not already. Glendive Public Schools has also posted this information on our app, websites, and Facebook Pages. We know that the virus will keep cycling through our community and schools if people do not follow these guidelines. We appreciate your assistance in keeping our community safe and healthy. Thank you for your understanding.
Friday, 1-24-2020 Bus 5 will not run this afternoon. Not enough drivers.
The Dawson County Health Department is requesting the assistance of community members in doing their due diligence in preventing the spread of Norovirus circulating in our area. Just because you have had Norovirus once, it does not provide you with immunity. Within three weeks, you could get it again. Norovirus symptoms include nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Preventative measures include: Hand Hygiene – wash with soap and water NOT hand sanitizer. Hand sanitizer does not destroy the norovirus. Disinfect - contaminated surfaces including laundry with chlorine bleach. Launder – contaminated bedding and laundry should be washed with hot water, detergent and bleach Protect yourself by wearing gloves when handling soiled items. Food Prep – do not prepare food for at least 48 to 72 hours after symptoms end. Stay home – Do not return to work or school or childcare for at least 48 hours after symptoms resolve. If symptoms persist or worsen, follow up with your healthcare provider. For more information click on the links below: Norovirus Outbreak Management Guide: http://bit.ly/2RjNtcH Symptoms of Norovirus: http://bit.ly/2ROWAB0

Update on WMS gym floor: While trying to assess and resolve the initial problem which was the source of the buckled gym floor, it was determined that the quantity of leaking pipes was greater than originally believed. Due to the condition of the pipes and, to ensure the restoration is properly completed, we have been working with; our insurance company, two restoration companies, two plumbers, and two flooring companies. Upon assessing the extent of the damage, additional leaks were discovered around the gym area as well as the identification yesterday (12/5) of mold in the boy’s restroom (foyer of the gym). Precautions were immediately taken to quarantine the gym foyer and restroom area until a mitigation specialist can further assess the situation. Our goal is to immediately and properly rectify these issues so as to resume normal activities at WMS as soon as possible. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mark Goyette (WMS Principal) at 377-3288 or Stephen Schreibeis (GPS Superintendent) at 377-5339.

Williston will use the girls PE locker rooms and our girls will be in the varsity girls locker room.
UPDATE from Mr. Buckley (AD): We have rescheduled the WMS mixer with Miles City and Sidney for Monday, November 18th at the DCHS gym starting at 4 pm.
REMINDER: Tomorrow, 11/7/19, is an early out release at 1:18 pm for students. That will be followed by parent/teacher conferences from 2-8 pm. The middle school does not schedule specific times for parents to meet with teachers like the elementary schools. Instead parents can meet with the teachers in their classrooms as they are available. Mrs. Svenvold (Choir) will be at WMS from 2-5 pm and the HS from 5-8 pm. Parents, please pick up your child's schedule at the main office when you arrive. A map will also be provided of the school. We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow!
From Transportation Dept: 10-5-19 Tuesday bus 1 and bus 7 will not run the pm route. Not enough drivers.
Bad news again regarding the floor at Washington Middle School. We had some valves that we estimate are 70 years old, leak under the gym floor. When we turned on the boilers here a few weeks ago, the water then started to evaporate and rise into the wood once again buckling the floor. We have had plumbers in to remove the valves and fix the leaks, a mitigation/restoration company in to dry things out and western sports floors in to evaluate the damage to the floor. We were hopeful that the mitigation was going to return the floor buckling to normal, but unfortunately there wasn't any change in the conditions. The end result is a gym we can not use for any contests until repairs are made. All girls basketball home games will be played at DCHS unless notified otherwise. The WMS Wrestling Mixer scheduled for Nov 21st will be cancelled as DCHS is not available that day. We apologize to everyone for this inconvenience as we work through this issue. NOTE FOR 6th GRADE PARENTS: On Friday, September 27, 2019, the 6th graders will participate in a service project. We will leave the school at 9:30 to pick up litter at the practice football fields, baseball fields, and Lloyd Square Park. We will be returning around 11:00 for a picnic lunch at the school. The WMS cooks will make sack lunches which may be purchased just like a regular hot lunch, or your child may bring a lunch from home. Students should wear appropriate clothing, and they may want to bring along a disposable water bottle. Garbage bags and vinyl gloves will be provided. If students desire, they may bring garden or leather gloves from home, but please make sure they are labeled. We look forward to serving our community.
NOTE FOR 7th GRADE PARENTS: On Friday, September 27, 2019, the 7th graders will be heading out at 9am to clean up around the fairgrounds before a community event this Saturday, pick up litter between the fairgrounds and the Cenex gas station, along the highway from the Trail Star to the Alliance Church, and from the Dawson County Vet Clinic and Berg Tire to Eyer Park. We will picnic in Eyer Park around 11:30am, play some games, and then walk back to WMS over the Bell Street Bridge to return to WMS before the 1:18pm early release time for that day. Students should wear appropriate clothing and bring a backpack or cinch bag if possible. Each student will be given a sack lunch provided by the school, unless they want to bring a sack lunch from home, a bottle of water, a garbage bag, and vinyl gloves for the day. Students may bring garden or leather gloves from home as they would probably stand up better. Please label them on the inside of the cuff. We have Sharpie markers if needed. Students may bring an additional bottle of water to drink from home if they think they will need one. The temperature is to be cooler with a high around 55 degrees. This will be a service project for the 7th grade. We look forward to helping out our community. GO DEMONS!!! #WMSDEMONS #GPSSERVICE #WMSAWESOMIZERS

School is just about upon us! With all of the construction still ongoing outside of the school on N Meade Ave we wanted parents and the community to be aware of what our plan is here at WMS before school and after. If you are dropping your student off or picking them up we are asking parent/guardians to use Dodge street on the N side of the building. This parking lot will be solely designated for parent/community parking (along with handicap) while the construction is still ongoing. Students will then walk around the building to the playground on the backside until the bell rings. Our staff will park on the playground on the far S end. This area will be coned off. THIS AREA IS NOT FOR COMMUNITY PARKING BETWEEN 7-4 pm or pick up/drop off. The community members who have been displaced by the construction are welcome to use the parking lot as we have allowed all summer as long as they are out by 7 am (our first students arrive around 7:15 am). Please stay SOUTH of the orange cones we have set out when you park and exit through the west exits. Buses will drop off on N River Ave in the morning and students will walk onto the playground from there. Buses will be picking up on the WMS playground so it is vital that students are not walking outside of the designated cone area for safety reasons on the playground. This includes students being picked up. Please do not park on N River Ave to pick up your child if at all possible (Use Dodge St). I have been told that they hope construction will be done on the N Meade in front of our school about 2 weeks from now. We ask for your patience during this time. We are EXCITED to have your kids soon! GO DEMONS!!! #WMSDEMONS #GPSCommunity #WMSAWESOMIZERS

The TIP members have officially launched "AT WMS, KINDNESS IS CONTAGIOUS!" Thanks to the Glendive PTA using funds raised from our fundraiser earlier this year, they were able to purchase red and white bracelets with the positive message written on them. Each TIP member was given a bracelet with the intention of passing the bracelet, and message, on to other students and staff members. Any time a TIP member observes a kind deed toward another person, they take off their bracelet, and give it to the person who committed the kind act with an explanation of why they are receiving the bracelet. Those people are then encouraged to pass the bracelet on to others they observe doing something kind toward another as well...because at WMS, KINDNESS IS CONTAGIOUS! Teachers are pretty amazing, but we aren’t mind readers! What is your favorite quote? “I believe, every day, you should have at least one exquisite moment.” -Audrey Hepburn
Glendive Public Schools has been working on getting our automated system working for absences. We will start our new system tomorrow, April 11th. If your student is absent, and the school has not been notified that they are excused, you will receive a call from our Notification System (377-9385). There will be two calls a day, morning (10:00) and afternoon (4:00). For those of you who are not aware, WMS is running a fundraiser for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society called Pennies for Patients. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the worlds largest nonprofit fighting blood cancer. This topic is very important to us here at WMS as we have multiple staff members who have fought these cancers and won! We hope the funds raised can help others who are currently battling cancer. Today was our first collection day and our students/staff brought in $306.97! I am very proud of everyone for rallying behind this cause (The top home room earns a pizza party so I think that helps the motivation a little bit)! The fundraiser will have 2 more collection dates on 4/2 & the final one will be on 4/5/19. Any businesses who would also like to participate are encouraged to get in touch with Mr. Goyette at 377-3256. We appreciate any/all support! From Mrs. Vander Veur: Today the sixth grade math students continued their of study of fractions, decimals, and percent. Mrs. VV used a variety of items as visual representations for representing fractions, or parts of a whole. Students were challenged to think through the question, “How much is half?” The students realized through discussion that the size of the object matters much as the value of the number matters. Thanks to the lunchroom ladies for helping slice the food and to Pizza Hut for the boxes. The students had to write percents into decimals and fractions for assessment.

Bus 3 will not run the morning route.
Bus: Tomorrow, Wednesday 2-20-2019 bus 7 will not run am or pm.
Buses will not be running tomorrow morning because of the snow. As with any situation, the safety of our students is the utmost importance. If a bus happened to get stuck, we do not want to have students standing outside waiting at their bus stops in the cold temperatures. Buses will be running tomorrow afternoon, as we feel the buses will be able to maneuver better by then. As with any situation like this, if you feel it is not safe to get your kids to school, please call the school and let them know. We feel it is important for parents to have a choice and make the final decision for their student. Please know that these decisions are not made lightly as we know these situations can be an extreme inconvenience for many families. Thank you for your understanding in this difficult matter. Again, buses will not be running tomorrow morning but will be running in the afternoon. We will also be continuing our early release schedule in each school with parent-teacher conferences from 2:00 - 8:00 pm. Thank you!
Just a reminder: Monday February 18th GPS has Parent/Teacher conferences from 2-8 pm in all schools. For this reason each school will be running an early out schedule. WMS will dismiss at 1:18 pm. We look forward to seeing many of you there!

What an amazing culture of kindness at Washington Middles School! Our tree grew from one simple act of kindness to over 100 acts of kindness by our students/staff!! The tree was put together a few weeks ago by our Pre-K teacher Mrs. Damron to teach our kids about random acts of kindness. #WMSDEMONS #GPSCulture #BringBacktheGoldenRule #BeKind
Parent/Guardians, We wanted to share some information with you regarding something that we have be informed a few of our students are participating in. The “Pass Out” challenge is where people attempt to make themselves momentarily pass out by depriving their brain of oxygen. It is NOT a safe activity as many young people believe: * According to the Center for Disease Control, 1,400 children and teens have died from this activity from 2000 to 2015. * Starving the brain of oxygen can cause: ~Seizures ~Brain Damage ~Coma ~Death ~Accidents Concussions may occur from someone losing consciousness and hitting their head on a solid object. A teen died from losing consciousness and then fell on glass slicing his throat. * Please remember that social media does not, many times, provide you with accurate and factual information. We want our kids to be educated and we will be sharing this information with them tomorrow in home room to attempt to better educate them to the risks. We care about every one of our students and their safety is one of our biggest priorities! If you have futher questions about this, please feel free to contact Sherri Nissley- School Counselor or Mark Goyette- Principal.
We had an awesome assembly today called the "Tour of Kindness." Two of the main messages were your words can make a difference for someone else and people that are different than you are still people and should be treated as such. They also addressed using social media in positive ways instead of negative. Mr. Schreibeis then followed up the presentation by addressing both the MS/HS student body about being an AWESOMIZER instead of an AWEFULIZER! GO DEMONS!!! #WMSDEMONS #GPSCULTURE #BeTheDifference #BeKind #BeAnAwesomizer
ASSEMBLY TOMORROW: Parent/Guardians, tomorrow, 2/12/19, our students will be walking over to DCHS for an assembly called "Tour of Kindness." I just wanted to inform you that there was gas smelled in the office at Washington Middle School. The building was evacuated to ensure that everyone was safe. Both MDU and the Fire Department were called. There was no gas detected anywhere when investigated. I want to thank the building administration and staff for taking immediate action and keeping our student's safety their number one priority. As is standard protocol, we will take precautions like this when we think that our students could be at risk. We will continue to try and inform everyone as soon as we are able in these types of situations. Thank you!
We just want to inform you that we have found a sewage line break at Washington Middle School under the south part of the building. This line is an original sewage line that has been in place since that part of the building was constructed in the 1930’s. The break is not affecting the entire building, just the south part. Due to the break, we can not use the restrooms, sinks or drains on any of the floors on that part of the building. We have relocated multiple classes because of the smell to those rooms. The Glendive Fire Department has assured us that there is no safety risk for our students/staff to continue our regular operations. We DO have functioning bathrooms and sinks in other parts of our building and the kitchen was not affected by this leak. Lastly, we have had to cancel our pre-K classes for the remainder of the week until this issue is resolved or we can set up another part of our building to accommodate their needs. We will be continuing to work through this issue and hope to have everything back to normal operation as soon as possible. We will continue to try and keep everyone informed about these types of situations. Thank you!
The winners of the school wide Geography bee are: 6th- Keaton Wergin, 7th- Riley Phipps & 8th- Korbin Lantis. The school champion for the 2nd year in a row is Loren Voss! Glendive Public Schools would like your input! As many of you know, the District has launched a comprehensive planning process to identify the educational needs of the community and shape the overall vision for our future. Determining the goals and aspirations of Glendive residents is the main objective driving our planning efforts. This will be a transparent process in which we will continue to seek feedback to ensure we create vision which reflects our entire community. As part of this effort we will be reaching out in various ways to get your input. The first opportunity is available now through a community-wide online survey. Please consider taking a few minutes to fill out the survey through the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/YYSPZTB
7/8th girls basketball and wrestlers need to bring their uniforms/equipment/practice gear to school on Wed, 12/19 and turn it in after school. It is vital that players are there after school on 12/19 to get the stuff turned in. If this is not possible, please contact the coach and make other arrangements to get the equipment turned in. Sixth grade math students are learning how to compute the mean, median, mode, and range using Skittles. They are collecting data from their own bag of Skittles and then from a partner. Then the two partners collect from another two partners. Then the group of four collects and organizes the data and continues to find the mean, median, mode and range. The group of four finds another group of four for the final computations. The students were then allowed to eat the Skittles after completing all the math work. GO DEMONS!!! #WMSDEMONS
