I have an amazing story I wanted to share with our community. A few weeks ago, our PE teachers Ashley Scheetz and Taylor Cashmore asked Mary Jo Gehnert- Dawson County Disaster & Emergency Services Coordinator, to come into our health classes and teach basic life support interventions to our students. This included teaching the Heimlich maneuver.
Fast forward to last week and we had a 6th grade student who began to choke on a piece of food in the lunch room. Our students sprung into action! One ran to get a teacher and the other two did the Heimlich maneuver removing the blockage and potentially saving this students life!
When I was told that this had happened I was very emotional. First, at the potential loss of a student. Secondly, at the initiative our staff took to teach our kids these potential life saving skills. Third, at the response of these kids to jump into action for a classmate in need.
These three students: Caden, Logan & Marty are heroes and deserve to be recognized as such (pictured with Mr. Cashmore). So proud to have the opportunity to work with such great staff and students! GO DEMONS!!!

From the Transportation Dept: Tuesday, 2-4-2020 bus 7 will not run the afternoon route.
Not enough drivers.

Just a reminder for everyone to continue to do the following things so that you can protect your student and everyone else. We have to all be in this together to #KillTheNorovirus.
1. Wash your student's clothes, jackets, backpacks, etc.
2. Clean your house with bleach or another product that takes care of the Norovirus (remember, disinfectants don't work on the Norovirus).
3. Make sure everyone is washing their hands frequently with soap and water (hand sanitizers do not work on the Norovirus).
4. Keep students home 48 hours after they no longer have symptoms.
We know that it is really difficult to do some of these, especially number 4. We appreciate everyone's continued effort with keeping our schools and community safe.
Have a great weekend! Go #68!

Parents, please use this weekend to wash all your kids clothing, bedding, etc. I know it is a lot of work, but when the Norovirus can last 3 weeks on surfaces or clothing, we need to be diligent with killing this virus.

Did You Know:
The symptoms of Norovirus: Diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, stomach pain, possible: fever, headache, body aches.
You can spread the Norovirus after you get better. The Norovirus is still being produced in your body after you get over your symptoms. Even once you feel better, you should still stay home at least 48 hours after. This is vital if we are ever going to get this virus out of our community.
